Scribing System Coming to Base Game

Hi everyone! We wanted to share some information about an upcoming change to how players can obtain the Scribing system.
Edited by ZOS_Kevin on May 22, 2025 2:24PM - Scribing is coming to the base game, free for all players as a claim in the Crown Store, in mid-July with an associated Golden Pursuit! You will see Scribing in the Crown Store on the PTS on Monday as part of this testing.
- We are not selling Scribing in the Crown Store.
- If you miss the associated Golden Pursuit, you will still be able to claim Scribing from the Crown Store, as this is a permanent move for it to the base game.
- There will be a short window from June to July with the launch of Update 46 and the Gold Road zone moving to ESO Plus and the Crown Store where players who do not currently own Scribing will not be able to purchase/gain access to it.

People who paid for IC, Wrothgar, Morrowind, and any other content that has been given away for free have not been compensated. This will be no different. I don't think this is a bad thing btw. You are paying for early access.47 -
Poss✭✭✭✭✭Literally only bought the lacklustre chapter for Scribing. Would’ve understood if it was coming to ESO+ (which has already drastically lost value over the years) but to give it away for free is ridiculous10

Those chapters were added to the base game years after their release. Scribing only came out a year ago

We bought it a year before its being added to base game so not much to complain about.
If it was 6 months ago or less with the full prize of Gold Road we should complain.5 -

No, nothing is planned at this time. However, the Scribing Golden Pursuit is rewarding AND equally available to both those who have already invested time into Scribing, and first-time Scribers. Agreed. It is baffling that Summerset and Orsinium are not base game yet, yet Vvardenfell is.
I started playing ESO when Vvardenfell was new, so while I understand that Summerset, Orsinium, Hew's Bane and Gold Coast were listed as different 'types of content.' IE chapters vs DLC vs <I have no idea>, it makes no real sense to me. It's time for those artificial differences to be ended, and to add Summerset, Orsinium, Hew's Bane (Thieves Guild) and Gold Coast (Dark Brotherhood) to the base game.She/They

It wasn't the reason at all for me to buy Gold Road. I love the questline (and have played it over and over on many alts) but have zero use for scribing itself (the same way I never had any use for spellcrafting....)______________________________________________________

Why hasn't jewelry crafting been made base game yet? Summerset was released quite a while ago and it's still not mainstream.15 -
